What he covers here

The remit is narrow on purpose. Self-serve ad networks that sell adult, dating and entertainment inventory; what they charge to open an account; what their targeting and optimisation tools actually do; and which claims in the category survive contact with a primary source. Where a figure comes from a network's own marketing rather than a document or a regulator, the text says so. The rules that govern that are set out in the review methodology.

Why an outside writer covers an inside subject

Affiliate content in performance marketing is usually written by people selling the thing they describe. That produces fluent copy and unreliable numbers. A content strategist with no book of business inside the networks has one advantage worth having: no reason to round a deposit threshold in a vendor's favour, and no relationship to protect when a network's support record is poor.
